Back on Program (28 weeks to go)

My google calendar is colour coded, I like making lists and ticking boxes, I find routine comforting. I spent about eighteen months on a coached training program, getting an email on a Friday morning telling me what the coming week from Monday held. In terms of training anyway. If only other areas of life could be so easily corralled! I like having a plan, a schedule and working through the program, and so it was something of a relief to start again this week.

There is no such thing as perfect preparation, and with that is mind this week has been a bit topsy turvy. New job, problems with Betsy, club squads being on holiday and a trip to Berlin over the weekend all combined to provide some challenges to ticking boxes.

Although I missed my weekend runs (it was just too cold to face in Berlin, and I was exhausted- lame excuses perhaps, but the truth!) I was really happy with what I did achieve and do:
- A solid effort at spinning Monday night, backing up from 115km on the bike Sunday.
- Back to training twice a day (Tuesday Run/Swim, Wednesday Turbo/Swim)
- Some solid non-squad swim training
- A great first session on the Turbo Trainer (or sweat factory, which saw me literally steaming in my bedroom)
- Pushing myself in a sprint running session

The next few weeks are going to be a similar challenge with trips away for Christmas and New Year's Eve, but I'm excited about fitting in what I can and hitting training in 2014 at full speed!
