26 Weeks To Go

The last few days of this week were a huge relief. December was a tough month, not so much because of the interrupting influence of Christmas and New Year, but because I was feeling depressed (I know it sounds trite, but the darkness and lack of sunshine with Vitamin D in it is really effecting me). Every training session require a major pep talk (30-45 minutes), and then on several even when I was out there I was hating it.

I don't know the whole answer as to how I got my mojo back, but I had a good think about why I'm here (in London) and have put some strategies in place to boost my mood. I think some running endorphins really tipped things in the right direction too!

This was a compact week of training, as I spent the first half hiking in Dorset over NYE. It's funny, I probably ate more to sustain five or so hours if hiking than for the six hours of riding I did today.

But, with some killer cycle and run hill repeats, a massive swim, and then a six hour, 155km ride (with a 20 minute run off the bike) from Thursday to Sunday I still managed to get some work in!
